The "Duettino" was the next piece in the "Pleyel Double Grand Series". The CD containing several first recordings takes its listeners to the musical world of Camille Saint-Saëns. With its selection of the program, the Duo deliberately counteract the still prevailing, one-sided view of Saint-Saëns that depicts the composer as the author of virtuoso pieces for light listening. In addition to the Beethoven variations, which are considered as classics of the two-piano literature, "Duettino" also presents Saint-Saëns's works inspired by Greek mythology, and his ballad adapted from Heine.

Saint-Saëns - CD
"Six of the nine selections receive first recordings here, while the relatively familiar Variations on a Theme of Beethoven (easily Saint-Saëns' most substantial two-piano piece) gets a large-scaled, proudly glittering performance. Piano duo fans seeking novelties won't want to miss this excellently annotated and fine sounding release."
(Jed Distler - Classics Today)
