At the heart of the program is Brahms and two colleagues who profoundly influenced his artistic development and career: Robert Schumann and Josef Joachim.
Franz Schubert - revered as one of the spiritual fathers of the German Romantic school - also features in the program, owing to Brahms' transcription of his 16 Ländlers.

"Monika Egri and Attila Pertis also share a sixth sense for effecting smooth transitions and tempo relationships in Brahms' Op. 23 Schumann Variations.

( …) a two-piano recasting of Schumann's far superior Konzertstück Op. 86 inspires wonderfully winged and flexible playing from Egri and Pertis that almost makes you forget the work's original scoring for four horns and orchestra, let alone the composer's piano/orchestra incarnation. In sum, this is a disc that will appeal to collectors on the lookout for piano ensemble rarities."

(Jed Distler, Classics Today)
